Movie Thyme restaurant website design: a redesign built to sell tickets
A SparkTrail-built website design for browsing screenings, choosing venues, buying tickets, booking private events, and joining the list before the next movie night.
Movie Thyme needed restaurant website design that matched how guests choose venues, find screenings, and buy tickets. The old Wix site used one long, popup-heavy page, film posters instead of event pages, and static “Pick Your Venue / Pick Your Film” lists with no live availability. SparkTrail's website redesign became a fast, SEO-optimized prototype with live availability, venue filtering, private events, gift cards, memberships, FAQs, and a mailing list.
Before and after the Movie Thyme rebuild
What restaurant website design problems were there before?
Movie Thyme's old Wix site worked like a single scrolling flyer. Popups interrupted the visit, films appeared mostly as posters, and the ticket page used static “Pick Your Venue / Pick Your Film” lists without live availability. A guest who wanted to know what was playing, where it was playing, or whether tickets were available had to work too hard.
For a hospitality concept serving the Hudson Valley, the site needed to answer local intent quickly: dates, venues, private event options, gift ideas, and how to stay connected.
Ticket path unclear
The ticket page showed static venue and film lists without live event availability.
No event structure
Screenings were not separated into search-friendly event pages.
Weak search context
The old layout did not give search engines enough organized page context.
Private events buried
Group bookings needed a clearer path for parties and corporate events.
What did we build?
SparkTrail's Movie Thyme website design is organized around the actions a guest or event planner actually needs. The build connects the brand story to upcoming screenings, private events, gift cards, memberships, FAQs, and the mailing list without forcing visitors through one long page.
- Upcoming events with live availability
- Venue filter for easier browsing
- Private events page and inquiry path
- Gift cards for diners and movie fans
- Memberships for repeat guests
- FAQ section for common event questions
- Mailing list capture for future screenings
- Ticketing via Ticket Tailor
- Fast SEO-optimized build
How is it built for SEO?
Restaurant and hospitality searches rarely start with a homepage. They start with a need: tickets this weekend, a private dining experience, a nearby event, or a gift. The prototype gives each major need a clearer page or section so search engines and guests can understand the offer faster.
That structure supports broader hospitality demand through SparkTrail's restaurant marketing work and local discovery across the Hudson Valley business market.
Clear page intent
Events, private events, memberships, gift cards, and FAQs each have clearer context.
Event-ready structure
Screenings are easier for guests to browse by date, venue, and availability.
Owned audience
The mailing list gives future events a direct promotion channel.
What changed?
The prototype demonstrates how an active event business can replace a static flyer. Its design lets visitors see upcoming experiences, compare venues, follow a Ticket Tailor purchase path, request a private event, buy a gift card, consider a membership, read common answers, or join the mailing list. This case study does not claim production-site performance or results.
This case study covers the website build only. Movie Thyme's separate social and paid advertising campaign produced a +34.6% first-month sales lift; that result is documented in the Movie Thyme social and ads case study.

FAQ
What made this a restaurant website design project?
Movie Thyme sells food, drinks, and themed screenings inside partner venues, so the site needed to behave like a restaurant and event platform at the same time. The new build organizes events, locations, private bookings, gift cards, memberships, and email capture around the decisions guests make before they buy tickets.
Did SparkTrail rebuild the whole Movie Thyme website?
SparkTrail designed and built the complete website prototype shown here, replacing the old Wix structure with event pages, live-availability features, venue filtering, private events, gift cards, memberships, FAQs, and mailing-list capture. It is a SparkTrail website design, not a claim about the client's current production site.
How does the new site handle ticketing?
The SparkTrail-built prototype presents upcoming events and helps guests choose by date, movie, and venue, while its ticket path connects to Ticket Tailor for checkout. This demonstrates the intended browsing and purchasing experience without claiming production-site performance.
Is this case study claiming sales results from the website?
No. This page covers the website build only. Movie Thyme's separate social and paid advertising partnership produced a +34.6% first-month sales lift, but that result belongs to the social and ads case study, not the website redesign.
